Sennen
School Pirates The pupils and staff of Sennen Primary School thoroughly enjoyed the association they had with the Cornish Pirates during the 2007-08 school year, with it seeming only right that 'Pirates' was the subject for their end of year show. A teacher at the school, Mark Francis, wasted no time in writing 'The Pirates of Sennen Cove', which was much enjoyed by the children taking part, and also contained many traditional songs that are usually only heard in rugby circles! Edwina Jeffery, headteacher at Sennen Primary School and whose husband Gordon played for the Pirates, invited Cornish Pirates prop forward Peter Cook to attend the show as he in particular had given them tremendous support throughout the year. Indeed, due to Peter and teacher Mark's enthusiasm in helping coach the school's contact and 'tag' rugby teams, it was of enormous credit to everyone involved that the tag side reached the Twickenham South West Finals held at Taunton. Returning home with the 'Shield', it was a truly great effort by a school sited near the very tip of Land's End. |
