CPLZ'S 'Friday Night Project'

December 2008

Always endeavouring to expand availability of facilities for the benefit of local children, the Cornish Pirates Learning Zone has recently introduced the 'Friday Night Project'.

The project runs from 5-7pm each Friday involving 20 children who applied for a space.

Under the direction of manager Kevin Jackson and assistant Ross Jones, children are given the opportunity to improve their standards in ICT at the Learning Zone, whilst various sports are also taught and played at the Humphry Davy School sports hall, where Cornish Pirates community coach Mike Crump is in charge.

The project is funded through 'Active Penwith' by 'HALP' (Healthy Active Lifestyles Programme), and is aimed at children who would not normally get the opportunity to participate in such activities, where they can learn news skills and interact with other children.
