Cornish Pirates Learning Zone - 'Stadium' Project & Art Course

The 120 pupils from throughout West Cornwall who have been attending the CPLZ this term have recently taken part in an innovative and exciting activity which has taken place over a two weeks period.

Students were all given a budget and resources to buy and build a stadium to their own design, and at the end of the activity they provided feedback to the others in the group, giving reasons why certain things were included in their stadium.

The activity that has been undertaken is, of course, central to the the CPLZ's ethos, which is to give all students the chance to improve their numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.

Students have, on the whole, been quite frugal in their spending and budget.

24 pupils from about Penwith have also been taking part in a 10 weeks course called the 'Artist Experience', which the CPLZ has run in conjunction with the Penzance Arts Club and the St. Ives School of Painting.

All the pupils involved are working towards showing their work in an end of course exhibition.
