Brett Davey commented after the match:

"There is no point in being down in the dumps about it, we just got well and truly beaten. I put it down to good play by the Pirates. We pretty much gave them every single point in the first half and they scored 28 points without reply in the second

"But we were never at the races to be honest. They were far better in every department and congratulations to them. We were really tired and it showed – especially in the second half –we were on our last legs.

"We are hurting as a club. I would have loved to have come here and won but we've just got to take it on the chin."

Munster 27 Ulster Ravens 3

Munster booked their place in the British & Irish Cup final with an ultimately comfortable win in a scrappy contest against Ulster at Thomond Park, Limerick.

Munster scored four tries with the first coming after 10 minutes as the Ravens failed to clear their lines and Jeremy Manning raced in at the corner to score.

James McKinney landed a penalty for the visitors minutes later before Munster struck again this time with a try from scrum-half Duncan Williams. A Declan Cusack penalty just before the break left Munster ahead by 13-3.

Manning added his second try of the game shortly after the restart and when hooker Mike Sherry crashed over the Ulster line on the hour the scoring was complete.

Moseley 37 Coventry 5

Moseley thrashed Coventry at Billesley Common on Saturday to ensure their place in next season’s Championship.

For hapless Coventry it now all boils down to a final game this Saturday at home to Rotherham Titans with nothing other than victory guaranteed to keep them from the dreaded drop into National One.

Coventry were second best in all departments here as Moseley shackled their impressive fly-half Fangatapu Apikotoa. Without a play-maker they quickly succumbed to first half tries from Ali Muldowney and Rupert Harden. The impressive Tristan Roberts landed a penalty on the stroke of half-time as Moseley led 13-0 at the break.

Roberts added a third try on 53 minutes as he set about a personal haul of twenty two points. By the time James Rodwell scored his side’s fourth try with ten minutes to go Moseley led 30-0.

Ollie Grove claimed a consolation score for Coventry but the final word was fittingly with Roberts in stoppage time as he seized on loose ball to run home from 20 metres.
