Harvey Plays For Hayle
21st April 2010
Last Wednesday saw the final mid-week training match for Hayle RFC versus a mixed St Mawgan, Roseland and Perranporth team.
Played at Hayle in front of a good-sized local crowd, Cornish Pirates community coach Leon Pohe organised the fixture and was able to pull together a large squad of ex and current local players. Hayle also had the privilege of playing alongside Cornish Pirates backs coach Harvey Biljon who brought experience, power and pace to the Hayle lineam.
Both sides started off slowly, but it was Hayle who came away with the first points when some slick passing enabled one of their wingers to score the first try of the game..
Pirates community coach Mike Crump landed the conversion and following this up with five more in the match, plus two penalties to register a 100% record.
The combined side managed to pull together two tries of their own thanks to some deft handling from the forwards and great decisions made by their young scrum half.
A big thank you was expressed to all 43 players who took part in the evening, to Hayle RFC for use of the main pitch, and to Harvey Biljon for giving of his time to take part in the fixture.
Just a reminder, there will be a touch league at Hayle on Thursday nights in the summer, starting in June
