Community coach Mike Crump is presently running the 'V' RFU Leadership Award with 25 young students, five from each representing St Ives, Mounts Bay, Humphry Davy, Cape Cornwall and Hayle Schools.
The student leaders have taken part in two classroom sessions at the Cornish Pirates Learning Zone, where they have been shown how to plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions aimed at 10 year olds.
The leaders will soon deliver their coaching sessions and referee matches at the summer 'Touch Rugby' nights that are run by the Cornish Pirates community team at Hayle RFC each Wednesday.
Participating students will be presented with their Leadership Awards after successfully completing six practical sessions.
