Over 35s & Schools Report

Following the success of the 'Over 35s' mid-week training match between Hayle and St Just, fixtures are also planned against Veor, Perranporth, and Redruth Albany.

These games will be played under floodlights at either Hayle or St Just, and with a 7pm kick-off on a Wednesday or Thursday evening.

The matches will be conditioned to what the coaches want, and will again be played in 4x20 minute quarters. Feedback from clubs intimates that they'll welcome these type of extra midweek training games.

Mike has also met with the PE department from Redruth School to try set a circuit training evening for anyone over 35 for free, and for people under 35 there is likely to be a minimal charge of just £1.

These sessions would be led by a qualified personal trainer and training students. Veor RFC have shown some interest and may be keen to get involved on a Monday evening, and Mike is also awaiting a reply from Redruth Albany. 

With reference to the 'After School Clubs', two new schools are interested for next term. St Levan, will continue their involvement in the programme, and from their number have two boys who are now playing mini-rugby with the Pirates – thus confirming the success of the After School Club.

Three younger students are also showing some interest in the game.
