July 2009 During this school term the Cornish Pirates Learning Zone has
opened up its second phase of the 'Leadership' programme, which followed the reward
of previously seeing year 10 students from Humphry Davy school successfully pass
their assessments. The second phase, whereby students have been put through
their paces on the exciting Leadership course, has this week come to an end, pupils
again from Humphry Davy having joined staff at the Learning Zone every Wednesday
morning for 10 weeks. All present showed great enthusiasm, commitment and
a thirst to learn as they have developed the skills needed to lead different sports
activities for children. The students recently undertook their assessments
where they had to lead a session in a variety of sports for year 5 and 6 students
from St Mary's Primary School.
Clare
Moore from the CPLZ commented: "These assessments
have been a huge success, especially with the help given from St Mary's School,
and I am looking forward to passing all the of the Leaders." "These
students really deserve some acknowledgment as they have been fantastic on the
course. I am very proud of this group and seeing them grow and shine into sports
leaders has been fantastic to witness for all the staff involved in the leadership
course." *The Leadership course is part of the
