£1,600 Raised For Bees Players
26th October 2009
Despite Bees loss to Cornish Pirates on Sunday players, staff, management and supporters left Camborne feeling humbled after Pirates' fans demonstrated a wonderful show of support. With over £1,600 raised during and after the hosts 62-10 win over Bees many were lost for words as monies donated were presented to captain Matt Long for distribution to the unpaid team.
"It was a very emotional experience" commented club chairman Brian Marshall, "we received nothing but best wishes from all the Pirates supporters.
"I'd like to extend a very big thank you to the Cornish Pirates for their hospitality and a special thank you for their fantastic collection, to all the players for turning out on Sunday and for their really gusty performance - they did the club proud and on behalf of the committee we thank them for giving us so many great afternoons of rugby."
