LUKE & MIKE PRESENT COLLEGE AWARDS

(CATS) Awards Evening

Community Action Through Sport (CATS) Awards Evening

25th February 2010

Pirates players Luke Collins and Mike Myerscough attended the Community Action Through Sport (CATS) Awards Evening at Bodmin College

Luke and Mike were among a number of celebrities invited to present awards, including Olympic weightlifter Michaela Breeze, British Schools shot putt champion Matt Halton, and BBC Radio Cornwall's James Churchfield.

Awards were presented to over 50 young people aged between 10 and 18 who had given that bit extra to their school or the community. Of particular interest were the youngsters involved with the criminal damage project who were recognised for painting out areas affected by graffiti.

The top award of the evening went to 16 year old Tom Orton for his work in developing the sports skills of many younger students at Bodmin College and in the wider community.

Although the ceremony was hosted by Bodmin College, this was very much a community event. The nominees inevitably came mainly from the Bodmin area, but there were also many from Wadebridge. The CATS committee are keen to generate more interest in the Wadebridge area, but with an objective for the charity to grow county wide.

The charity was actually 'born' in Bude, as was Mike, and both Luke and Mike were thanked for giving of their time to attend the worthy event.
