Pirates Coach Cornwall Coaches

When Chris Stirling, the High Performance Manager at the Cornish Pirates, met recently with Cornwall's Rugby Development Officer, Mike Bratt, he asked Mike in what way, if any, we could assist coach development in Cornwall.

The question made received an appreciated response, and following the meeting a development session was planned, which took place at Newquay last Monday evening.

It was a very worthy and well attended event, despite the weather, where the intention was to cover three main skill areas using promising players from Cornwall's U16s and U18s squad.

Our backs coach Harvey Biljon delivered a session on ball handling, forwards coach Ian Davies covered the line-out, and Chris concentrated on tackle technique and one-on-one defence.

In total, about 40 coaches from about the county turned up, all of whom the Cornish Pirates coaches enjoyed working with.
