Penzance & Newlyn RFC's Youth Section recently raised the sum of £230 for the Haiti Appeal.

Following the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti the young Pirates were given the opportunity to raise the money after Leon Pohe, one of the club's community coaches, suggested that if Cornish Pirates players were able to attend a mini-rugby session and pass on new ideas to the youngsters present, then in return the young players could donate £1 each to the appeal.
The proposal made was a worthy one and it culminated in a training session being held at the new all weather pitch at Penwith College. Cornish Pirates player Alan Paver helped co-ordinate the event and extra monies were also raised thanks to the efforts of Youth Section officials who helped provide and sell teas and coffees etc., alongside volunteer mums.
A large cheque was displayed at the Youth Section's training session held at Penwith College last Friday, and on Saturday during the half-time period of the Cornish Pirates versus London Welsh match, it was again on show for the crowd to both see and acknowledge the efforts made by the youngsters.
