Pirates St Piran's Festival
7th March 2010
It wasn't just the rugby that provided enjoyment for many at Camborne last Sunday when the Pirates beat Newport 26-20 in the British & Irish Cup, but also the club's St. Piran's Festival which celebrated all that is great about Cornwall.

On a bright and breezy day a former and respected Grand Bard of Cornwall, Rod Lyon, officially opened the festival event, accompanied by Welsh rugby legend Dai Watkins.
It was the second year that the Pirates have held the event, which they are keen to develop, to provide the people of Cornwall with an opportunity to meet together and celebrate the Duchy's great traditions and heritage.
The 'Cornish Wurzells' entertained the crowd firstly in the park and then in the ground where a highlight was when Paul Wickes and representatives of Falmouth Marine Band led the famous Giant Pasty Parade around the ground. Accompanied by the renowned Cornish trio of Graham Hill, Brian Chenoweth and Milly Edwards, this culminated in the traditional passing of the giant pasty over the posts and, of course, the singing of 'Trelawny'.
