Matt Evans
30th December 2009
The Cornish Pirates back-rower Matt Evans is going to Redruth, initially for two weeks, to get important game time.
The 27yr old South African joined the Pirates from Worcester in 2004, having played for England Students and England Counties.
During his time in Cornwall he has made 121 appearances for the Pirates, which would have been many more but for injuries suffered. He was also honoured in 2007 to have played for the Barbarians.
To date this season Matt has made 11 Championship appearances for the Cornish Pirates, four in the starting line-up and five as a replacement.
Pirates CEO, Rod Coward, commented: “This will benefit both clubs as Matt is likely to get some quality game time – including what will no doubt prove a testing debut for him against the Cornish All Blacks on Saturday.”
