The Cornish Pirates can confirm that they have bolstered their squad by announcing the signing of 21 years old Cardiff-born hooker Ryan Prosser.
Ryans representative honours include him having played for Wales U16s and then England U18s during his time with the prestigious Colston's School, Bristol, whose 1st team he captained.
When a member of the Bristol Academy, Ryan featured in the Guinness 'A' league and played for Wales U20s, representing them in the Six Nations and the Junior Rugby World Cup hosted by Wales in 2008.
Offered a senior deal with Bristol for 2008-09, Ryan suffered a set back because of a knee injury. However, back to full fitness and having recently had some game time with Newbury, where former Bristol player Ben Sturnham is in charge, he is now raring to go and take his opportunity of getting back on track with the Cornish Pirates.
Commenting on the latest addition to the Cornish Pirates squad, CEO Rod Coward commented: “Going into the play-offs it was felt that we needed extra cover at hooker. Ryan is well recommended and comes with a determination to succeed, and if he proves his ability at this level then we would be looking to renew his contract beyond this season.”
