Rob In Germany Squad
Februaryy 17th 2010
Pirates Hooker Rob Elloway was on international duty last weekend, playing for Germany in the European Nations Cup 2010 competition
Playing away against a strong Romania side, Germany were beaten 67-5 at the Constructorul-Cleopatra stadium in Constanza.
At half-time the score was 20-5, but in the second half Romania's pack power told, with forwards in their side from clubs such as Brive, Perpignan and London Irish making an inevitable impact.
26yr old Rob qualifies to play for Germany as he was born in Rinteln, Germany. His father Kevin was serving in the Royal Engineers, and his mother Jacqueline is German.
The European Nations Cup Division One competition, known as Six Nations 'B', is the premier competition for second tier nations in Europe. It is split over two seasons and also involves Georgia, Portugal, Romania, Russia and Spain.
Rob, who played international rugby for England 18 Group at youth level, made his debut for Germany in Hanover last May. It was an appearance made when he came off the bench to play as a flanker in a match Russia.
