| Training Resumes After One Week Break |
7th July 2009 Having gone through hell and back for three weeks, a period which gave purpose for the saying "there's no gain without pain", the players enjoyed a one week break before resuming training again on Monday as preparations for the new season gradually and purposefully continue. In total the Pirates have signed 14 new players to form a squad of 32 players who are lined up to compete in the inaugural 'Championship' and 'British & Irish Cup' competitions. Commenting on pre-season training, High Performance Manager Chris Stirling said: "Phase one has progressed into phase two and the boys have worked hard, with their efforts reflected in recorded results. We started with re-testing and we were more than pleased with the results and so were the players." "Phase two will continue the conditioning theme but we will add in our season game plan and approach things from both a technical and tactical point. We will spend the next four weeks improving our fitness and learning our game in readiness for phase three."
