Last Thursday saw Pirates under 15 girls rugby team travel up to Liskeard and play the under 15 Liskeard Leopards side. This was a return fixture after Pirates played and won at the Mennaye field Penzance.

The girls played a full 13 a side game on a full pitch and used the space wisely with some great individual runs and some good skills shown throughout the game.

The Pirates Girls Rugby Squad ended their season on Saturday with a presentation evening held at the club.

Next year we have entered the league and look to really compete in it with both age groups. Once again we hope to continue our successes by having members of the team representing County and Regional as Emma Bisson and Caitlin Davy did this year. Hopefully next year we will have a bigger squad and a lot more following from the girls family’s to make this a special year!”

Two Pirates girls team players, Caitlin Davy and Emma Bisson, have not only made the county team, but have also been selected in the South West South squad.

Coach Mike Crump said: "Six girls went to county trials and training, with three of them representing Cornwall in fixtures. Now to have Caitlin and Emma in the South West South squad puts the icing on the cake.”

The Cornish Pirates in conjunction with 'Active Penwith', 'Penwith Extended Schools' and the 'Penwith School Sports Partnership' have arranged a Girls Rugby day to take place at Mounts Bay School on Tuesday 16th February from 10am – 3pm.

Rugby coaching and training will be provided for girls aged 11-16 years, and the cost is just £5
