It was back in early May, 2008, that the Cornish Pirates swooped to sign Tongan international winger Aisea 'Ice' Havili from Premiership side Worcester Warriors.

Once described as "a little Tongan who has pace to spare and scores tries for fun", Aisea was first capped for Tonga against Fiji in 2000.

When first arriving on our shores, Aisea played initially for Bridgend and then for the Celtic Warriors at the advent of regional rugby in Wales. Celtic Warriors then, of course, disbanded, him moving to Llanelli Scarlets in 2004-05 and ending his one season there as their top try-scorer.

'Ice', as he is sometimes referred to, was then snapped up by Worcester, scoring 10 tries in his first season based at Sixways.

Having played for Tonga in the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and having been with the Warriors for three seasons, Aisea looked forward to his arrival in Cornwall, considering it a fresh and exciting challenge.

Although playing in just 13 games in his first season with the Pirates - 10 in the league (one as a replacement), two friendlies and one Super Cup game, Aisea still notched up 10 tries. Six were scored in the league, plus there were two in friendlies and two in Super Cup games played.
