  Gifted Ben Is The 'Try Card' Winner
Autumn Term Highlights  

Gifted Penwith youngster, Ben Morcomb, who attends Ludgvan Primary School, showed his artistic skills to design a 'Try Card' in a recent competition organised for students who attend the Cornish Pirates Learning Zone at Penzance and the CPR Learning Space at Camborne.

His winning card had the word 'TRY' in large letters on a yellow cross, and the four quarters displayed examples of what makes Cornwall special - namely rugby, sailing, ice cream, and, of course, pasties!

  Connor & Trevyne Are 'Kesstrif' Winners

'Bagas Benbow' (Benbow's Gang) is the club for junior supporters of the Cornish Pirates, and following a 'kesstrif' (a competition) recently run By the Cornish Language Partnership (MAGA) in association with the Cornish Pirates, the names of the two winners have been revealed.

Connor Drew from Camborne and Trevyne Coombes were the lucky youngsters announced when the Pirates recently played Newport in the British & Irish Cup competition.

  Learning Zone's Media Match Day Experience

At the recent Cornish Pirates versus Newport game played at Camborne, the opportunity was given for a number of young students who attend the Cornish Pirates Learning Zone to enjoy a 'Media Match Day Experience'.

Using various technology, all the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed being a sports journalist for a day, interviewing players, coaches and staff, and meeting a number of media personnel present.

  16th Cornish Pirates Master Class
Cornish Pirates Master Class  

The 16th Cornish Pirates Master Class was held at Penryn College where Community Coaches used the 3g rubber crumb pitch for the three days of rugby.

Master Classes run for three days 10am-3pm. The coaches cover all aspects of the game during the three days, which this time covered three groups tag, contact and girls rugby.

  Matthew Rashleigh – New Community Coach
Matthew Rashleigh  

Matthew joined us recently as a Community Coach working in local schools, clubs and Master Classes.

He joined Penzance & Newlyn RFC from the age of 10 and left at 18 after a season with the colts. Since then he played for Pirates Amateurs, Mounts Bay and for the past 2 seasons Hayle RFC. Recently he gained a Bachelor of Science in Sports Performance and Coaching along with some specialised rugby qualifications.

  SWS Honours For Caitlin & Emma
SWS Honours For Caitlin & Emma  

Two Pirates girls team players, Caitlin Davy and Emma Bisson, have not only made the county team, but have also been selected in the South West South squad.

Coach Mike Crump said: "Six girls went to county trials and training, with three of them representing Cornwall in fixtures. Now to have Caitlin and Emma in the South West South squad puts the icing on the cake.”
