Pirates Mike Myerscough and Tom Luke, along with staff member Phil Westren, attended
St. Maddern's Church of England School, Madron, on Saturday where Mike and Tom
officially opened the school's summer fete. | | | | | | | St.
Maddern's only has 30 pupils, so the support given by the Pirates to help raise
much needed funds was greatly appreciated. Children from the school have
received 'tag' rugby coaching by the Pirates in the past, following which the
children participated in a tournament. They returned home with a rugby ball which
was presented to mark their sportsmanship. Teresa Rowe the Headteacher said
she was delighted that members of the successful Cornish Pirates team were able
to be a part of St Maddern's fete and that the children were looking forward to
working with the players again.
