July 2009 'School Report' has won the Royal Television Society Educational
Television Award for Innovation in Education, and the Cornish Pirates Learning
Zone and Humphry Davy School proudly played a part in the BBC School Report team
winning the prestigious award. The BBC annually open their news channels
for one day and following a curriculum of five lessons students have the opportunity
to create their own news stories and upload it to the BBC website. Many of the
stories are picked up during the day on news programmes.

Report commented: "We are thrilled at School Report
HQ and you and your students should be pleased too as we truly wouldn't win without
all your hard work! It really is an award for everyone who contributes to School
Report." RTS commented that the programme is:
"
an innovative educational resource that enables
young people to explore news and media production by making and broadcasting news
for themselves. [It] gives both teachers and pupils the tools to engage at a variety
of levels, creating an excellent resource for the classroom." BBC
News School Report picked up the award for Innovation in Education. The ceremony
was held in London on Monday 15 June, 2009, and the evening was hosted by Professor
Tanya Byron.
