Jim
& Trophy Take To The Air!
9th/12th
August 2007
Ever
since the Cornish Pirates won the EDF Energy National Trophy final at Twickenham
in April, they have been very active in showing off the silverware to the wider
community.
During
the close season it has been taken to the far reaches of Cornwall, and even to
North Devon when the Cornish Pirates players and coaches visited Children's Hospice
South West's 'Little Bridge House' respite centre.
For
the first time, the trophy took to the air with coach Jim McKay aboard the Skybus
to the Isles of Scilly,
Jim was joined on the Scillies
by fellow rugby coaches Floyd Barnett and Phil Morris for an event sponsored by
the 'Youth Opportunity Fund' in partnership with the RFU and co-ordinated through
Active Professional Coaching.
26 youngsters with
ages ranging from 7 to 16 were given rugby tuition on the Garrison field, St.
Mary's, followed by a weekend of beach rugby played by locals and visitors at
Porthcressa Beach.
