season ticket sales 

It was Reported last week that season ticket sales had passed the 300 mark, the figure has risen still further with the news that the 500 barrier has now been broken.

The newly formed 'Championship' league and British & Irish Cup competitions are clearly creating extra interest among Cornish rugby supporters, with season ticket sales expected to rise further in the coming weeks.


June 24th 
Leon Pohe 

Leon Pohe, a 34yr old Maori from Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, who has played rugby league in Wellington, has been appointed assistant community coach

Last Friday morning Mike and Leon took a tag rugby coaching session at Cape Cornwall School; where they were joined by former Pirates prop forward Peter Cook. The coaching was provided through the link between the Cornish Pirates and the Penwith Sports Partnership, and formed part of the school's activities week.


June 30th 
 Marketing Manager Appointed  

Latest arrival to the support team /admin team is Kelvin Collins, who has just left a very different role at Standard Life in Edinburgh to return to Cornwall to take the role of marketing manager at the club.

Kelvin was born in Redruth and sat his 'A 'levels at Redruth School before moving around the country with various senior marketing roles in the big banks.

Previous 'Meet the Players' nights have proved immensely popular with Season Ticket Holders and Sponsors.

This year it will be a chance for Season Ticket Holders and Sponsors, plus 'Buccaneers', 'Pirates Crew' members and volunteers to not only meet the players but also the new coaching team, all of whom realise the importance of building good relations with and understanding the views of those who contribute to the club's cause.

Six-A-Side 'fun' cricket  

Pirates players and supporters are to make up the teams for a Six-A-Side 'fun' cricket tournament at the Mennaye Field Saturday 8th August

A barbecue is planned and the clubhouse will be open for refreshments.

Further details will be confirmed in due course.

Aisea Havili 

The Rugby Paper recently contacted Phil Westren requesting him to contact 'Ice' for him to compile his 'Dream Team' of players he has played with and against during his career.

Aisea's selection makes interesting reading (as featured in this week's Rugby Paper), with it of no surprise that he was impressed by good old Heino!

Recruit Into Coaching 

A partnership between the Cornish Pirates Learning Zone (CPLZ) and the Cornwall Sports Partnership is about to give the opportunity to create the leaders of tomorrow - today!

An induction day will be held at the CPLZ, 'Westholme',Alexandra Road, Penzance, on Thursday 16th July 12 - 2pm, which will give the opportunity to explore ways to unlock 'your' potential as a coach in any sport.
