Jimmy Moore  

The Cornish Pirates have announced that utility back Jimmy Moore's ankle injury has not responded to treatment as both he and the club hoped and he has decided to give up his career in professional rugby.

Jimmy, his wife Clare and baby son Jake are to return to Lancashire, where he is going to pursue a new career in accountancy.

Further Signatures  

Following the news that Blair Cowan, Chris Morgan, Sam Betty , James Doherty (all 2 years) and Jonny Bentley (1 year) had signed new contracts with the Pirates, it has been confirmed that Ryan Storer (2 years), and Wes Davies Nick Jackson and Tom Luke (all 1 year) have also put pen to paper.

 Further news on player re-signs will follow soon, which is good news for the Cornish Pirates and their supporters..

Blue Cow Pie  

Following the morning training session on Tuesday, the players had a special treat awaiting them when they gathered for lunch at the 'Westholme' clubhouse in Penzance.

The players are always well fed, and on Tuesday it was a chance to sample an award winning pie made locally at the Fountain Inn, Newbridge.

Rob Elloway was on international duty last weekend, playing for Germany in the European Nations Cup 2010 competition

Playing away against a strong Romania side, Germany were beaten 67-5 at the Constructorul-Cleopatra stadium in Constanza. At half-time the score was 20-5, but in the second half Romania's pack power told, with forwards in their side from clubs such as Brive, Perpignan and London Irish making an inevitable impact.

Rob Ellowa  

Hooker Rob Elloway is with the Germany squad that will play Romania away in the European Nations Cup 2010 competition. The match is scheduled to take place in Constanza this coming Saturday (Feb 13th).

26yr old Rob qualifies to play for Germany as he was born in Rinteln, Germany. His father Kevin was serving in the Royal Engineers, and his mother Jacqueline is German.

'End Polio' Campaign  

Ahead of Saturday's Albion v Pirates match in the British & Irish Cup opposition players Darren Clayton and Ben Gulliver met up at the Brickfields for a photo-shoot to help the 'Rotary' in their efforts to eradicate polio.

Polio is a crippling, and sometimes fatal disease and still a very harrowing reality for children in parts of Africa and Asia, and it indeed threatens everywhere.
