Phil Westren's informative & amusing programme notes

Phil is our Media Liaison Officer who performs a variety of other roles for the Cornish Pirates, ranging from PA announcer to Archivist.

Born and bred in Penzance, he first played for our Colts over forty years ago, later captaining the strong Humphry Davy Grammar School 1st. XV and representing Cornwall Schools.

His senior rugby 'career' saw him play 560 games for the Pirates, a highlight being a member of the side that beat Redruth 4-3 in the 1976 Cornwall K.O. Cup Final.

Besides playing, Phil has held numerous offices over the years with the Pirates, a Life Member and Vice President.
