of the Penzance & Newlyn RFC will take place in the clubhouse on Thursday
27 July at 7.30p.m. Please note that only fully paid up members can attend.

available for purchase/application from the club direct for next season  last
year's season ticket holders will be written to first out of courtesy to give
them an opportunity - priority to apply first within a given period of time  With
reference to the latest E-Zine notification on the website, we are looking to

Surfin
Pirates Having taken to the sea to do some gigging in Mounts
Bay earlier this year, players from the Cornish Pirates took time out during the
week to widen their skills on the briney. Participating at the opening
of the ONeill Surf Academy at Watergate Bay, Newquay, along with another
high profile XV in Cornwall young trainee chefs from the Jamie
Oliver inspired restaurant Fifteen Cornwall, were Pirate players Dan
Seal, Rhodri McAtee, Nick Makin, Alan Paver, Chris Cracknell and James Moore,
as well as Team Manager Adrian Edwards and Strength & Conditioning Coach Simon
Raynes A lot of us are used to surfing the net nowadays, but this was the
real thing, with everyone participating appreciating instruction given by British
surfing champions Sam Lamiroy and Robyn Davies. The ONeill Surf Academy
has been the brainchild of Californian and ONeill professional rider Richard
Schmidt, the base at Watergate Bay being their first all year round Academy. Shaun
James Retires
26 yr old centre Shaun James
has decided to retire from playing full-time professional rugby.
He has
been released from his contract with the Cornish Pirates and we wish him well.
Shaun featured 15 times for us in League and Cup games played last season, having
joined the club last summer from Cardiff Blues. New
Faces At The Pirates - 10/05/06
Henry Barratt from NEC Harlequins is the latest acquisition to join the crew list.
A centre/wing, he made his NEC Harlequins debut against the Sharks
(South Africa) in February 2003, and was named the clubs Young Player
of the Year that same season. In 2004 he played for England U21s
in the IRB World Championships, showing considerable potential, before suffering
a knee injury last year which restricted him to just eight appearances in the
2005-06 season. Having worked hard to regain full fitness, Barratt further
strengthens what is looking to be a strong and exciting three-quarter line, one
to provide Cornish rugby supporters with high-level rugby entertainment.

It is not just on the playing front where new faces will be seen, there
are two new appointments in forwards coach Mark Hewitt and physiotherapist Tom
Bradley. Mark Hewitt a 46yr old former Royal Marine from Kent,
played in the back-row for Plymouth Albion, Devon, and the Combined Services,
before later taking up a post with the South-West England Rugby Academy (SWERA)
based at Ivybridge. He will be arriving in Penzance from Gloucester later
in the month, having been an RFU Academy Manager there. Commenting on the
forthcoming move Hewitt said he was looking forward to the challenge
of both pursuing and fulfilling the ambitions of the Cornish Pirates.
Tom Bradley who is just 28, previously held a part-time position
with NEC Harlequins and worked for a private physiotherapy practice in London.
He has also worked with the Great Britain Rowing squad. Cornish

Continuing to build their squad
for the 2006-07 National 1 campaign, the Cornish Pirates have signed one of Samoas
up and coming young stars in wing Gasolo Salima.
Gasolo by name, and
Gasolo by nature, this player has put on the burners to score some outstanding
tries. He represented his nation in last years U21s World Championship,
his efforts earning him promotion to the senior Manu Samoa side that later toured

Another player set to join the Pirates ranks is prop Grant Anderson
A 30 years old former Australian U21s, Australia Universities and Australian Barbarians
forward who has also benched for the Queensland Reds.. After a home club
career with Gold Coast Breakers, Grant joined Edinburgh Gunners in 2004. He made
a Heineken Cup debut versus Perpignan that same year, but last season joined Newcastle
Falcons for whom he made three appearances. Qualified for Scotland through
his Glaswegian father, Grant does not count as an overseas player.

Pirates
in World Cup action
CORNISH Pirates lock Heino Senekal was included in
the Namibian side that defeated Kenya 84-12 at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek
on Saturday.
Although not on the scoresheet, the imposing second
row forward played a key role for his country, who are now preparing themselves
to face Tunisia on July 1.

at the Royal Cornwall Show 2006
The Cornish Pirates will be attending
this years Royal Cornwall Show, to be held at the Showground, Wadebridge,
on the 8-9-10th. June.
Sharing
a site base courtesy of Pirate FM, visitors to the show are asked to seek the
Pirates out for details concerning season tickets and fixtures for the 2006/07
season.
There will also be a number of competitions, the main one asking
people present to Guess Paves weight in delicious Rowes Pasties.
Alan Paver is a chunky prop forward in the Cornish Pirates team, the confirmed
number of pasties to be awaited with interest. And what of the prize? Well, its
a season ticket for next season, plus a plentiful supply of oggies!
