Pirates U9s Share The Plate Trophy

The Pirates U9s shared the Plate Trophy with Saltash after a hard-fought final in the Cornwall U9s Rugby Festival played at Newquay on Sunday, both teams scoring two tries a-piece.

In the pool matches the Pirates recorded victories against Wadebridge and Falmouth, plus a draw against Lankelly-Fowey, before losing to Redruth by two tries to nil.

They played some excellent rugby throughout, the forwards producing sufficient ball for the backs to take advantage of, the team scoring twelve tries in all, and conceding just five.

In the final of the main competition, hosts Newquay beat Redruth by four tries to nil.
