Annual Boxing Day Match

Pirates Amateurs 42 Brooksy's Barbarians 19
Friday 26th December 2008

Following their merit table win at Penryn just before Christmas, the Pirates Amateurs were again in sparkling form in this particular match.

This annual fixture played at the Mennaye Field on Boxing Day is a popular one, with there some spectacular rugby played once more.

Leading the Brooksy's Barbarians side was Marine Richard Sharp, who is presently home on leave, in a game sportingly and ably refereed by Peter Lugg.

There was some concern when 'Amateurs' player Mark Osborne was injured at the bottom of a ruck, it considered wise to take care with an apparent neck injury. As a precautionary measure the Cornwall Air Ambulance few to the ground to take Mark to Treliske, from where he was released later in the evening.

Mark is recovering well at home, and both he and the Pirates would like to thank the Cornwall Air Ambulance for the important role the service plays.
