Falmouth Colts 7 Pirates Colts 12
Saturday Sept 27th 2008
Despite a number of their squad playing for the Pirates Amateurs, the Pirates Colts continued their good start to the season with a hard fought win away to Falmouth. It was a good chance for some of the younger members of the squad to get into the starting line-up, and they did not let themselves or the team down..
With the Pirates pack providing quality ball, it led to a well worked try in the corner for Kyle Richards. The conversion from the touchline was not easy, but fly-half Kelvin James' effort was successful, and it giving the young Pirates a 7-0 half-time lead.
The Pirates went further ahead soon after the break when wing Daniel Batten scored an unconverted try. However, when they took their foot off the pedal Falmouth came back strongly and narrowed the deficit to just five points after notching up a try and conversion of their own.
In a tight finish the Pirates Colts rallied again, and were ultimately unlucky not secure a third try in the game after the referee had adjudged a player to have been held up over the line.
