Pirates Colts 39 St. Austell Colts 5
Saturday 14th February 2009
The Pirates Colts had a fine win in this Cornwall KO Cup match played against St Austell on the Mennaye field.
Starting the game well, early pressure led to a try from No. 8 and captain Tom Cowan-Dickie, which was converted by fly-half Kelvin James.

With the Pirates pack proving far too strong for their opponents, the foundations were quickly laid to enable the backs to impress, and after a well worked back-line move the second try of the game was scored by inside centre Josh Semmens. James again added the conversion.
Prop Danny Toolan scored a try, and piling the pressure on there was also a hat-trick scored by left wing Talan Daniels - all within the space of just five minutes, it a truly memorable first such achievement for the obvious man of the match. This brought the half time score to Pirates Colts 34 St Austell 0.
The second half was at times a scrappy affair, with the Pirates seeming to take their foot of the throttle at times. Indeed, St. Austell's Kieran Davey scored a consolation try after just ten minutes, but the Pirates did then hit back straight from the restart, and after forwards and backs combined the try of the match was scored Josh Oliver.
