Depleted
U16s Prevail U16s Launceston 12 Pirates 22 The Pirates
were on the road again this week, playing Launceston away and fielding a somewhat
depleted side due to county commitments and injuries to some key players. Although
proceedings started in bright sunshine, as the match unfolded the players were
subjected to practically everything the elements could throw at them - driving
rain, high winds and hail! Opening the scoring after 20 minutes with a
try from Ben Britten, the Pirates followed this with further tries scored through
skipper Ben Robinson and Andrew Tester, the latter successfully converted by William
Banks to give them a 17-0 half-time lead. The start of the second half
was disappointing, as the Pirates were punished harshly for misdemeanours and
Launceston took advantage with an early try. However, the Pirates hit back when
Ben Britten crossed for his second score, with Launceston then notching up one
more try of their own at the end, which was successfully converted. Pirates
U16s squad:
John Drew, Harry Hoare, Keiran Brownfield, John Hunter, Matt Richards,
Jonathan Badcock, Ben Robinson (capt.), Ben Britten, Taylor Wearne, Ben Brooks,
Guy Hobson, William Banks, Andrew Tester, Jordan Oxley, Felix Lovell, Oliver Badcock,
Daniel Dingley. Scorers - tries: Britten (2), Robinson, Tester ; con: Banks.

Continue Winning Ways
Pirates U13s 20 Launceston U13s 5
The
Pirates U13s continued their winning ways with this well deserved win at home
to Launceston. Because the visitors arrived short of numbers, the Pirates
lent them three members of their own squad, which all made for an entertaining
game. With the scoreline reading 5-all at half-time, the Pirates had to
raise their effort in the second period, which they did well when playing also
into the wind. Making several positional changes, they came alive and created
three tries with out reply. The Pirates try-scorers were Ed Holmes (2),
Tom Holdsworth, and man of the match Sam Skinner.

U8s Win Close Encounter
Pirates U8s 7 St. Ives U8s 6
Having
turned out in force on an incredibly blustery day, the opportunity was taken by
the Pirates to in effect give each squad member half a game each. A 3-4
half-time scoreline demanded a stiff team talk for the Pirates during the interval,
which clearly worked as they came back strongly to win a hard-fought match 7-6.
Tries for the Pirates were scored by Morgan Harvey, Joshua Storey, Alistair Stacey
and Ethan Wyatt, and the squad members used were as follows:-
Mackenzie Oliver,
Morgan Harvey, Jamie Shrosbree, Mawgan Osborne, Joshua Storey, Joshua Bainbridge,
Oliver Roach, Declan Marshall, Denzel Motusaga, Kyran Richardson, Alistair Stacey,
Williams Simons, Joe Roach and Ethan Wyatt.
