Pirates u13s 20. Launceston u13s 5.

The Pirates u13s continued their winning ways by outscoring Launceston by 4 tries to 1.

Playing with the wind in the first half the Pirates were only able to score a single try by Tom Holdsworth to one from Launceston. The Pirates lent 3 players to Launceston who arrived short mainly through previous injuries, but this made for quite an entertaining game.

In the second half and after making several positional changes the Penzance outfit came alive, and against the wind scored 3 further tries through Ed Holmes 2 and man of the match Sam Skinner 1.

Camborne-Helston U12s 7 Pirates U12s 49

The U12s travelled to Camborne to take on the combined Camborne-Helston side with only 12 players due to injuries, illness, and absence. Camborne-Helston had 14, so Sam from their side sportingly moved into the Pirate back line. It is good to see the numbers building for Camborne-Helston as those players that do turn out show massive determination and with more game time will provide formidable opposition.

As it turned out, the Pirates came out on top, largely due to slicker teamwork as a result of playing together consistently. Max Berryman led the side, scoring 4 tries and converting all 7 that the Pirates scored altogether.

Connor Bick led the forwards with determination and contributed a try of his own. He was well supported by Casper Torode and Aidan White.

Dylan Williams, lively as usual at scrum half, made a number of penetrating runs opening up the defence and scoring twice.

Alfie Prosser made some determined runs up the middle and was well supported by wings Perran Drew and Callum Groves.

Camborne-Helston kept the Pirates honest with some aggressive play and a determined run from tight head prop Alex saw him crash over for a well deserved try.

There is still plenty for the Pirates to work on in training, forward continuity being one.
