The Pirates Youth rugby section hopes to hold its first
Registration Day on Sunday September 7th, from 11:00 - 14:00, at the Mennaye,
for current and future members to complete their memberships for the new season.
The youth section currently has around 250 members.
Jon Keeler, Membership Secretary said "With so many members, it is a difficult
task to accept the memberships at a normal training session, so we thought it
would be more beneficial to members to have a separate time available. Wendy
Nicholas, newly appointed Chair of Youth Rugby for the Pirates added "This
will also be an opportunity for members and parents to meet the age group coaches.
Of course, we would also like to welcome new members,
especially those considering the very popular Tag Rugby at Under 7 and also those
being introduced to rugby at secondary school for the first time at Under 12." The
Registration Day will feature a Tag Rugby demonstration, aimed at youngsters who
will attain their 7th birthday before 31st August, 2009 and who are looking to
join the Pirates this coming season, at 11:30 and a demonstration contact rugby
training session and match at 12:30 as well as a barbecue and likely appearances
by Cornish Pirates players. Training for U7, U8, U9, U10,
U12 and U13 will commence in earnest on Friday September 5th, with the U12 and
U13 at 5:30 and all others at 4:30. Those in other age groups should contact their
coaches to establish their first training session, if they have not yet been contacted. Anyone
requiring further information is asked to contact
Nigel Walters, Youth Rugby
Secretary on 01736 763152 or 07816 888365.
