Bob Horne

Bob Horne was a Lancastrian who arrived at the Penzance Grammar School in the fifties and played rugby for the Pirates,

After ‘hanging up his boots’. he held a number of high offices, including that of Team Secretary (1962-64), Chairman (1971-74), and Assistant Secretary (1974-75)

He was also a stalwart worker for the Penzance Lions Club.

For many, it was his time in charge of rugby at the Grammar School (renamed the Humphry Davy GS in 1961) for which he is fondly remembered. Many benefiting from the sporting tuition enthusiastically offered.

His son Alan played senior rugby for the Pirates, as have grandsons Scott and Gary Randall.
