Williams Brother of John, the Williams
family lived at one time in St. Marys Terrace and then Alphington House,
Penzance, before moving to Menwinnion, Lamorna. Educated
at St. Erbyns School and then Rugby School (both brothers were skippers
there), Nicky, the elder brother, then became a Royal Marine Commando, seeing
service in Hong Kong. Returning to civilian life
and becoming an Article Clerk to a solicitor when living at Gulval, Nicky captained
the Pirates in 1947-48 and 1948-49, a period when he also played 8 times for Cornwall.
A powerful, well-built wing/centre, he had a great hand-off and was considered
a real leader whose players talks did much to improve the play of
the side. | | Awaiting

also played for Harlequins, Nicky working as a solicitor in his fathers
London office (as he did later in India) before eventually rising to become Managing
Director of Burma Oil a time of peripatetic (meaning going from place
to place) existence. Having eventually settled to live in the village
of Ewen (Gloucestershire), Nicky has recently returned to Cornish roots to a chosen
home at Port Navas. A point of interest Nicky and John form the only
set of brothers to have captained the Pirates. |
