Club History - Pirates Players

Paul Greaves

Paul has been closely associated with the Pirates since the early sixties.

He was an outstanding athlete as a youngster, playing for Cornwall Schools and our Colts before later becoming a prolific try scorer in senior rugby.

During his playing days he also performed certain administrative roles, being a players’ representative on various committees – serving on the old Executive and Finance & Emergency Committees.

He was also at one time Treasurer of a thriving Social Committee.

Late in his playing career he was an excellent 2nd. XV captain, before coaching duties eventually took his focus.

Paul Greaves

For a number of seasons his week in - week out efforts, working alongside people such as Bernard Durrant and Mike Larkins, laid the basis which enabled us to start climbing up the league ladder.

Honoured at being made a Vice President in 1995, Paul still provides positive support as our 4th. official on home match days, it being a role he performs both reliably and conscientiously, them being traits that have stayed with him throughout.
