Pirates Colts 54 Penryn Colts 5 11th Sept 2010
A strong Pirates Colts side kicked off their season in style at the Mennaye Field on Saturday with a convincing win against a very sporting Penryn side.
Like many Colts teams in Cornwall, Penryn had difficulty in fielding a full XV, but were loaned some players by the Pirates to importantly make sure that 30 youngster had a game. Both sides played good rugby and enjoyed the Mennaye Field's groomed pitch and surrounds.
The first half was closely contested, as indicated by the 12-5 scoreline. However, as Penryn tired it was a different story in the second period and the home team ran out comfortable winners.
In total, the young Pirates scored eight tries through Ben Brooks (2), Luke Cowan-Dickie (2), Mike Roach, Stefan Osborne, Silas Sullivan and Keiran Brownfield. Brooks also converted six and Cowan-Dickie one.
