Wadebridge 0 Pirates 48
Pirates U13s put in a fine team performance to continue their impressive start to the season – in which they have yet to concede a point.
In a dramatic contrast to many games last season, Pirates were quick out of the blocks and gave Wadebridge little time or space to play.
Early pressure from the kick off led to an early try for Callum, who ran a second under the posts in just a few minutes later. These two early tries set the tone for the match.
Pirates were strong in the scrum, and showed commitment in the tackle, preventing the opposition from putting any pattern of play together.
Pirates added to their tally before half time with a try for Connor from a clever short line-out, and third for Callum, capping a fine first half display by running in from a quick tap penalty.
Despite extended periods of possession and several penalty decisions in the second half, Wadebridge couldn’t break through the stout Pirates defence, and as they committed players to the breakdowns, Pirates exploited the space, with pacey breaks from Joel and Seth.
They converted these opportunities into points, with tries from Drew, Joel and two more from Connor.
Pirates face stiff opposition next week at home to a tough Truro side, but will go into the match brimming with confidence having kept a clean sheet in every match this season so far.
Try scorers: Callum (3), Connor (3), Drew, Joel

Camborne 14 Pirates 21
Skilful teamwork from the Pirates, particularly in their back line, proved the difference
in this hard fought contest.
A tight first quarter saw good play from both teams, but when the Pirates forced play into the corner James Lambourn drove through for the opening score. This was followed by a spell of further pressure which allowed fly-half Max Walden to spot the opening after a scrum and nip through for the Pirates second try.
With the back line playing some excellent rugby the ball was passed skilfully to wing Dominic Trengove who placed the ball down for a third converted try that put the Pirates that gave the Pirates a comfortable lead.
To their credit Camborne rallied, and with their scrum proving a handful for the Pirates forwards they were allowed to run in a converted try from the loose which left the half-time scoreline reading 7-21.
The second half was one of kick and drive from Camborne, and dogged defence from the Pirates who were determined to maintain their lead. Man of the match Tom Tieken was particularly impressive, but when Camborne chased down a long kick they scored their second try, again converted, to take the deficit to just 7 points.
Soaking up pressure at the end the Pirates tackled well as a team, with debutants Sebi Schmidt and Rowan Thomas deserving credit as their side maintained their unbeaten record.
There was time for a short second match, which allowed more game time for some of the
newer players. They showed up well, achieving a creditable 0-0 draw.
