U10s WIN AT HOME TO Camborne

U10s Pirates 15-5 Camborne

On a bright almost spring-like morning t he Pirates U10s hosted Camborne RFC at the new 4G pitch at Penwith College.

The visiting 'Cherry & Whites' opened the scoring with a try in what proved to be tough game. The Pirates lost the services of Tom Tieken, who was injured, but following a good run by Conner George, his try levelled the score by half-time

In the second half the Pirates scored two fine tries through Jamie Thomas and Daniel Rhys Evans to win the game, both created through good team work and some fine passing from man of the match Henry Trow.

The youth section held a charity training evening last Friday, when many Cornish Pirate players came along to help raise money for the Haiti appeal – further details to follow.

U9s SNEAK IT

U9s Pirates 35-30 Camborne

After a brilliant training session on Friday with so many Cornish Pirates players, the young Pirates looked forward to their home game against Camborne at the new all weather facility at Penwith College.

Both teams played some committed rugby in a well contested match, which was level at 15-all come the interval.

In the second half play was again even, but the Pirates managed to secure their victory by scoring just one more try than their opponents. The defensive effort was very good, especially the tackling from Alistair Stacey and Mackenzie Oliver.

U8s SQUAD SHOW THEIR STRENGTH

U8s Pirates 50-25 Camborne

On Sunday the Pirates U8s played their first game on the all weather pitch at Penwith College, where their opponents were Camborne.

Under sunny skies Camborne put up some good resistance and scored some well worked tries. However, the Pirates, who played a fresh team in each half, came out eventual winners 50-25, with tries from nine different players -m which shows that they are understanding the importance of support play.

IMPROVEMENT SHOWN BY THE U7s

U7s Pirates 30-20 Camborne

Playing the first of two matches against their Camborne counterparts at the new rubber crumb pitch at Penwith College, strong teamwork led to an early lead for the Pirates which they managed to sustain throughout the game.

Some outstanding play left parents and spectators thrilled to see how much the Pirates U7s have improved since the start of the season.

U7s Pirates 5-5 Camborne

The second match of the morning saw the Pirates U7s draw at Penwith College against Camborne.

For some of the Pirates this was their first game, but they showed tremendous determination in meeting Camborne for the first time and mixed with a number of more experienced U7s players soon took an early lead. However, to their credit Camborne came back to score a try seconds before the final whistle, thus making it a draw.
