When the Cornish Pirates played Bedford Blues at home on Sunday 2nd January, Terry Drew celebrated his 70 th birthday.
Family and friends joined Terry and his wife Wendy for the pre-match hospitality lunch, which took place in the clubhouse, and it was an occasion very much enjoyed.
Terry has had a long association with the club and is a Life Member. He played for the Colts in the late 1950s, and in the early-mid 1970s played a number of senior games for the Pirates.
In difficult times Terry became the club's Assistant Treasurer back in 1986 - it a mark of a person to have stepped forward when things were tough, whilst others so often held back or didn't respond at all. Taking on the office ofClub Administrator in 1997, it is a role he still holds today, whilst he has also travelled all over the country on match day duties.
Having Terry involved has meant that the club, perhaps not so surprisingly, has been in safe hands – it remembered that the keen all year round outdoor swimmer, was a gifted 'goalkeeper' in his youth, both at football and water polo.
