At this mid-season Christmas and New Year break the Penzance & Newlyn RFC Youth Section has taken the opportunity to thank all their sponsors and those who support them in providing rugby for the youth of Penzance aged 6 – 18 years.
Special mention has been made to schools and others that have offered and made available facilities for training and playing, with thanks also to caretakers and members of staff who have often made themselves available at weekends. Those thanked were Humphry Davy School, Mounts Bay School, Gems Bolitho School, Pensans School, Truro & Penwith College, Penzance Leisure Centre, and St.Just RFC
Expressions of thanks were also made to Alan Paver, the section's coaching co-ordinator, plus all the Cornish Pirates players who regularly attend training sessions to support individual team coaches and members.
Whirlwind Sports, who supply and sponsor the kit and also offer members a discount, as do Rugby Tackle, were thanked. Both were and recommended as two great outlets for gifts and sound rugby kit advice.
Appreciation has also been expressed to all the volunteer groundsmen who work so hard around the club, to Phil Westren and Geoff Nicholas for getting match reports and news out and about, and to all the office staff that help with a variety of needs.
The role of parents was mentioned, as was the support especially of all who coach and volunteer to make it all possible and support fundraising efforts so that the section can strive to further improve all that it has to offer.
Finally, there were words of praise to the Cornish Pirates for providing first class rugby on our doorstep, which gives members something truly worthy to aspire to.
