Tag Rugby Festival

The Cornish Pirates held a Tag Rugby Festival as part of the EDF Energy National Schools Rugby Programme on Tuesday 6th November at the Camborne Rec, and St Meriadoc Junior School, situated right next door walked away with the crown.

After 5 weeks of coaching from Cornish Pirates Community Coaches, the schools which were mainly from Camborne took part in the festival on the Cornish Pirates home pitch in the town.

After tough matches, Troon Primary, Weeth Primary, St John Baptists Primary, Falmouth Primary and Crowan Primary had all been knocked out, and the schools in the final were from St Meriadoc and Sennen Primary, near Land's End.

In a tense final, watched by Pirates Centre Paul Devlin, St Meriadoc triumphed 1 try to 0.

As winners, St Meriadoc have been invited to the next Cornish Pirates home fixture which is against Rotherham on Sunday 18th. November, where they will be photographed on the pitch during half-time.
