School At Twickenham 14/04/08
Trewirgie
School represented the Cornish Pirates in the EDF National Schools Rugby Final
at Twickenham this weekend, and won both their games on the Twickenham pitch.
They were selected after taking part in the Cornish Pirates EDF Energy Rugby Programme,
which has introduced tag rugby to schools across Cornwall.
In
addition to the great rugby, they did so looking very smart in their new kit,
which was provided by Cornish Pirates retail partner Whirlwind Sports. Trewirgie
beat a school from Exeter Chiefs, and a school from Worcester Warriors in their
new shirts, polo shirts and shorts.
Harvey, Millie, Taegan and Will with Gary Billing from Whirlwind
Sports.
They also got seats to watch
all the rugby action courtesy of EDF Energy, and had a great day, especially for
Welsh teacher Dave Williams who saw the Ospreys beat the Leicester Tigers in the
EDF Energy Cup Final.
Gary Billing of Whirlwind Sports said: "It
is not often that a Cornish School gets the chance to represent the county on
such a big stage. Therefore, when the school contacted us, we decided we would
help them by making sure they looked at their best when they take to the Twickenham
turf. It's even better that they are going there to represent the Pirates as it
ties in really well with our partnership with them."
Dave
Williams, Head of Rugby at Trewirgie School was also delighted, saying: "We
had a great day out, and the new kit made it a bit more special. We hope that
we made Cornwall look good on the day"
