Enterprising Students get on board with
Pirates
High Schools all over Cornwall had more than just the rugby to
be cheerful about after Sunday's exciting "Duchy Derby" between the
Cornish Pirates and Launceston.
Young Enterprise businesses from 15 schools
in Cornwall were offered the opportunity to sell tickets on a cashback basis for
the game, enabling them to make some money to help start up their fledgling businesses,
whilst also learning some sales and marketing techniques.
Every school that
took part made some money, with 3 schools from the length of Cornwall doing especially
well.
Zing from Launceston College came a close third to the joint winners,
Qube from Mounts Bay School in Penzance, and Uneek from Camborne School, who both
made £57 for their businesses.
Maria Gomez, County Manager for Young
Enterprise in Cornwall said
"We are delighted to have the support
of the Cornish Pirates. Having the opportunity to sell tickets and promote the
rugby games has enriched the Company Programme and given the students additional
business skills"
Both schools will now share the prize put
forward by the Cornish Pirates, and will be invited to hospitality at Cornish
Pirates vs Newbury on Sunday 20th January
