Chris Stirling
High Performance Manager

Chris StirlingChris first visited Cornwall for a seven weeks spell in the autumn of 2008, giving the Pirates advice on how the game had changed and was being played in the southern hemisphere under the ELVs.

His time in the Duchy was very positive and having impressed many it was no surprise that in January 2009 he was appointed in the new role of High Performance Manager for the start of the 2009/10 season on a two year appointment.

He is very proud of the fact that he has coached in many varying conditions and locations, and has enjoyed successful results in all.

Harvey Biljon
Backs Coach

Harvey BiljonJoining us as backs coach in the summer of 2009, Harvey brought an impressive 'cv'.

Harvey joined London Wasps in 2000, where he enjoyed considerable success before leaving in 2006. During his time there Wasps enjoyed a period when they won the Zurich Premiership three years on the trot, besides lifting the European (Parker Pen) Shield, the Heineken Cup, plus the Anglo-Welsh and Anglo-French Cups.

From 2005 to 2009, Harvey held the post of Director of Rugby at Blackheath, for whom he also played up to 2008, which was a year when he was honoured to play for the Barbarians in the annual Edgar Mobbs Memorial match against Bedford.

Simon Raynes
Strength and Conditioning Coach

Harvey BiljonSimon boarded the Cornish Pirates ship as our Strength & Conditioning Coach in the summer of 2005, immediately introducing a structured pre-season programme devised specifically for the team to hit the new season running.

Meticulous in preparation then, nothing has changed since, and the benefit has been there for all to see.

With a smile on his face, that can just as quickly turn serious, Simon can be a hard task-master. Happy to deliver his sporting motto that 'pain is weakness leaving your body' he drives the players to their physical limits but, having endured much, the players appreciate and respect that it's certainly worthwhile.

Jan Rendall
Team Manager

Jan RendallBorn in Mylor, Jan showed early sporting promise at the local Junior School and won the 'Sports day Cup' in his last two years before progressing onwards and upwards to Penryn Secondary School whom he represented at both rugby and football.

As true Mylor boy, and used to the sea, it was no surprise that at the age of 15 Jan joined the Royal Navy at HMS Ganges.

The first of many ships that he served on was that formidable and famous aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal, him attending many conflicts around the world during a 25 years period, including Northern Ireland, Bosnia, the Falkland Islands, and the Gulf.
