Sam Betty- Flanker

Sam Signed For Worcester for the 2011/12 season

Sam Betty- FlankerA Cornishman although actually born in Bristol, Sam is the son of ex-Truro centre John Betty.

Having played some early rugby also for Truro, Sam joined Jim McKay’s squad as a promising but raw nineteen year old.

After having been in the squad for several seasons without nailing down a regular place, Sam was anotder who seemed to blossom upon the arrival of Ian Davies as forwards’ coach.

The full blooded, raw aggression was maintained but the awareness, handling and general work rate in the loose stepped up to the extent that in 2009-10 he was by far the Club’s most improved player.

His form in various encounters with Worcester obviously impressed their coach Richard Hill and Sam signed for the Warriors in August last year (2011).

In his first season in the Premiership he played in the majority of he matches despite stiff competition from the likes of Best and Kvesic and a bright future looks assured.
